The Unreal Estate show featuring Tim Doyle at Spoke Art is underway. The opening was a smashing success, and now the online sale has begun. Check out the details below, and bag yourself some incredible Doyle pieces.

Spoke Art is proud to announce the general online release of Tim Doyle’s highly anticipated debut solo show, “Unreal Estate.” The artist’s re-interpretations of classic television landmarks such as the Bluth Banana Stand, Moe’s Tavern and the Seinfeld Diner were a smashing hit last night at the opening in San Francisco and we’ve been working around the clock to get the prints ready for an online release for our fans around the world.

The Spoke Art online store is now open to the general public with our remaining selection of Tim Doyle prints, variants and original works.

As an added bonus, the first 100 customers will receive a free limited edition mini print by Tim Doyle featuring the house from the classic television show, “All in the Family.” This print is a give away only and will not be made available for sale.

Please keep in mind that interest in this show is incredibly high and that the demand greatly outnumbers the supply. As such, there is a distinct chance that you may experience slow loading times on our site (we switched servers last night to help increase our online stability) and that there is always the chance that work will oversell and need to be refunded.

Philip Lumbang is taking over Unit 44 this evening for his show of Solo Works. Please read the details below.

Just a quick last minute reminder about our show tomorrow night. We hope you can make it down as we showcase Philip Lumbang all the way from LA. With lots of press flying around about this one from the likes of Vandalog, the Daily Street, VNA, and Shephard Fairey himself we’re expecting a great turn out and huge amount of interest in the work.

Doors open at 6.30pm as always until around 9.30pm with an abundance of Brooklyn Brewery’s finest.
We’re extremely happy that Philip will be here for the opening and he looks forward to meeting you all.

We then plan to take the party to town – hitting usual haunts the Town Wall for a swift Ale and onto theCUT.

Mile High & Rising Group Show at Black Book Gallery – Online Store Open

Black Book Gallery is currently hosting the Mile High & Rising Group Show. 25 artists from Denver have gotten together to bring the ruckus to Black Book Gallery. Finishing off the year with a bang at Black Book Gallery this month, the first ever Mile High & Rising group show (on display throughout December) will bring together over twenty-five of the city’s most active creative talent, exhibiting a collection of diverse work and representing a sample of the contemporary artscape currently happening in Denver. This will be an incredible mix of artwork, not to mention a prime opportunity to pick up a few pieces- all work will be priced at $100 or less – Double score!

Encompassing a wide variety of mediums and artistic styles, the show will not only highlight each individual artist’s contribution, but also the close knit community of art contributors that live and work in Denver (which includes many others). From upcoming to established artists, from graffiti to tattoo influences, from screen printing, to paint, drawing, photography and sculpture, Mile High And Rising will truly be a landmark show, and define a new tradition in the process. Next year, the show will continue with Mile High and Rising Vol. 2.

Get Up! Group Show Opening at Get Up Gallery

SOOOOO…. here’s the deal: Get Up Gallery is opening the doors of it’s actual brick and mortar gallery during tomorrow’s First Friday event here in Downtown Las Vegas. To coincide with the opening, Drymounted is running a bit of a contest for you. The rules are simple:

Get Up Gallery will be opening its doors on December 2nd, 2011 to coincide with the monthly First Friday event. The Gallery resides within the Emergency Arts collective (formally the Fremont medical building) in Downtown Las Vegas. ‘Get Up!’ is Get Up Gallery’s opening exhibition and will celebrate street art in the form of stenciling, wheat pasting and graffiti. Artists participating come from locations such as the UK, Canada and the United States.

The exhibition opens with a reception on December 2nd, from 7-10 P.M. This event will take place at the Get Up Gallery exhibition space at 520 Fremont Street Las Vegas, NV, 89101. Get Up! will remain on view through December 24th, both at the exhibition space and on www.getupgallery.com.

United Taste of a Miracle : Handiedan Solo Show At Phone Booth Gallery

United Taste Of A Miracle is the upcoming show for artist Handiedan. This exhibition is taking place at Phone Booth Gallery and it kicks off with a reception on November 19, from 7-10 P.M. 533 East Broadway, Long Beach, CA 90803 is the address, and as you might expect, the gallery will be filled with amazing works from Handiedan. If you make it out there, look for me. This is a show that I just couldn’t miss.

HANDIEDAN: UNITED TASTE OF A MIRACLE

Phone Booth Gallery is pleased to present United Taste of a Miracle, the fourth exhibition by Dutch artist Handiedan. In a new series of tactile, layered collages, the artist continues to interact with the iconography of the pin-up and the mystique of ornament. The exhibition opens with a reception on November 19, from 7-10 P.M. This all-ages event will take place at Phone Booth Gallery’s exhibition space, 2533 East Broadway, Long Beach, CA 90803. United Taste of Miracle will remain on view through December 17, both at the exhibition space and on www.phoneboothgallery.com.

Handiedan’s exploration of the vintage sensuality of pin-up culture has become more dimensional and more intricate in this new instance. Figures and the decorative patterns that surround them protrude slightly from pages of yellowed advertisement text, tempting you to run your fingers across them. Text has even been superimposed back over girls’ intertwined limbs, collapsing background and foreground and emphasizing the bodies themselves as ads for a certain kind of sassy sexiness.

Ornate frames surround each image and little message bubbles, like the kind from comic books, hover around the girls or lurk off to the side. A tiny Supergirl makes repeat appearances and Asian characters appear, written in blue pen across limbs or in the background, bringing World War II era exoticism into the mix. Layer upon layer of references twist together. In all, the cultural mélange in this series is dense, varied and surprising.

Like the work of Joseph Cornell, Wallace Berman, Kurt Schwitters or other collage forerunners, Handiedan’s collages communicate a mood more than a message, peaking curiosity rather than offering any sort of thesis about culture. They make seduction graphic, fully aware of all its often tamped-down cultural ramifications. But the work still leaves room for reflection. You can get lost in the beauty of the detail and the drama.

In addition to intricate new mixed media works, United Taste of a Miracle will include three large prints, a series of regular print releases and a to-be-announced special release.

Cleveland’s favorite culture-spinning Czech vandal, Ales BASK Hostomsky comes back “home” with a portfolio of brand new, never-before seen, mixed-media works. Throwing innocence and purity right into the meat grinder, BASK’s newest series of portraits are both playful at heart, and sinister by nature. Through these difficult times in which we live, BASK shows us that we can still have fun by manipulating our own realities, even while they constantly change around us. A metaphor… that indicates that in this twisted world, we don’t always come out in the same manner in which we came in.

In commemoration of BASK’s fourth solo exhibition at WRG, the artist has partnered with 1xRun to make available a limited edition print titled, Fun Box Toons. This 24 x 24 in. giclee is printed on 330gsm archival cotton paper and is priced at $75 ea. Zombie Art Show Prints And Originals

Phonebooth Gallery and Jazon Liwag teamed up to co-curate an art exhibition that went hand in hand with the Zombie Walk. The results are some amazing originals, some killer prints and all around awesomeness. Scroll down below to see what’s still available.

This year, Phone Booth Gallery was asked to co-curate an exhibition along with Los Angeles curator Jason Liwag for the 2011 Long Beach Zombie Walk and World Record attempt. The result is a beast of an art show featuring some of the most amazing zombie artwork we’ve ever seen. Attendance was at upwards of 14,000 enthused zombie-clad individuals, including zombie babies, zombie killers, and even a zombie Ronald McDonald.

It was a great opening, a great local response here in Long Beach, and an equally great response in the internet community.

K-Guy has a show set to open titled Iconic Irrigation. Along with the show comes the drop of a print titled 11th Commandment. The details are below, so give them a look.

Just a quick reminder that my solo show, Iconic Irrigation kicks off this Friday – 11/11/11 with the Private View on Thursday night. For a few lucky people on the list I’m giving away 33 x 11th Commandment prints to the first bods through the door, signed stamped and numbered.

Craww is having a show opening George Thornton Art in Nottingham from the 5th – 15th November. Available now on the site is a preview of works shown, as well as links to purchase these originals.
