Dust In the Giants Eye Exhibition By Kid Acne

Electrik Sheep is proud to announce the upcoming exhibition featuring Kid Acne called Dust In The Giant’s Eye. July 1st through August 1st, 2010 is the date of the exhibit, and you’ll definitely be treated to some killer graffiti, and a possible of some still existent acne! (As an aside, peep the photos that Danny sent me from the Prefab 77 show at Laz)

Electrik Sheep proudly presents: Dust In The Giant’s Eye – an exclusive exhibition by modern-day renaissance man and UK graffiti stalwart, Kid Acne.
The Sheffield based artist rides into town like baddies off Super Gran (that means he drives a Sinclair C5) for his inaugural show in the North East.

Kid Acne began writing graffiti as a boy, inspired by its infinite scale, colour and immediacy. Applying the same DIY ethos to the rest of his output, he spent his teenage years creating underground fanzines, comics and releasing limited run 7″ and Lp’s on his own Invisible Spies imprint.

His work as a grown-up has been seen throughout the world, in exhibitions from Helsinki to Melbourne and in weekend rap-sprays from New York to Azerbaijan.

Whilst Kid Acne’s signature illustrations have graced apparel for the world’s leading brands, the man himself continues to paint walls in sub-zero temperatures. His current cast of warrior women and mythical creatures inhabit a fantastical world of epic slogans and backhanded compliments…
And he still has acne.

New Limited Edition Print Section At Pimp Artworks

Pimp Artworks has launched it’s new Limited Edition Print section. I just had a look through the 8 pages of available prints (or prints available for pre-order) and I must say that I am quite impressed. The quality of the artwork available for under £65.00 is astounding. All editions seem to be limited to around 30 pieces and each comes signed, numbered and complete with a COA. My name’s Steve Watson and I setup PimpArtworks (www.pimpartworks.com) a few months ago.

Basically it’s a brand new website which is dedicated to Urban & Street art, both traditional and digital styles. The site is completely free to join and the concept is we will promote, sell and manufacture works on the artist member’s behalf, who are entirely in full control of setting their own commission.

Up until yesterday the site was completely Open Submission. We allowed it to evolve naturally itself. But we have now launched a brand new Limited Edition section which showcases exclusive works by Street Artists from around the world.

There is a mix of some well known artists, both old and fresh, in with some more than capable up and coming artists who we have high hopes for.

There are artists who paint with the intention to be the best, or to make a ton of money, some to become famous, but MEAR questions the intention of each of his individual works, asking is this a worthy concept; and what is the outcome of such a work that speaks to the masses. This is an involved process in which MEAR’s hopes are to bridge a gap between what is common and that which isn’t. To raise a responsible conversation on the topic that is displayed, i.e. the painting. MEAR’s works are meant to bring the unseen mysteries locked with in our minds to the foreground as if to take part in a grand expose`. The question of how did we become, and why. To see through the illusion of our decrepit social condition and speak out with art as a weapon of mass liberation.

Known for his ultra-colorful tags and elaborate pieces on the Broadway #1 line, with heavily influenced psychedelic and comic art stylings, and later, taking it all-city. With contributions to the seminal classic hip-hop films, Wild Style and Style Wars, his participation in the 80s East Village art gallery scene, various music videos and, album covers, animation, comics, vinyl toy design, and creating the classic YO! MTV Raps logo. His early 80′s tour of duty in the city of Baltimore is legendary, where he, like a Messenger of Style, singlehandedly kick-started a graffiti scene there that still feels his influence today. Revolts place in the history of “graff-dom” is set!

L.E.T. has an show coming up and he is releasing a print version of the street piece Crayon Rebel. This print is hand stenciled and screen printed, making each unique. I don’t know about you, but this is a must have for me! Here are the details below from the artist himself.
