Brooklyn artist Matt Haber is prepping for his upcoming exhibit at the BLDG Gallery titled The Little Voyageurs. The opening is on June 25th, 2010. If’ you’ve never heard of Matt Haber, he has worked for Walt Disney Feature Animation, Fox Animation and has been artist assistant to Takashi Murakami. That’s quite a resume and I bet this show will be quite impressive.

OPENING NIGHT: June 25th 2010

The BLDG Gallery is pleased to announce the opening exhibition of Brooklyn artist, Matt Haber, June 25th, 8 pm to 11 pm at 30 West Pike Street Covington, Kentucky. This exhibit encompasses new work by the artist, as well as the unveiling of Haber’s first life-size sculpture.

Matt Haber’s artwork is connected to a civilization that once existed in the artist’s own mind. He presents a catalogue of characters in scenarios, which explore moral and ethical dilemmas in a stage-like setting. Referencing existing allegory and pop culture he creates a familiar feel to his works. Within them you may see the innocence of the 1950′s, the industrial invention of the Victorian Era, or the eloquence of the Rococo Era.

A visual story drives the overall theme of Haber’s exhibition. He elegantly depicts a complex heroine throughout each piece at random moments of her life, from childhood to death. The story extends out of the canvas and into three-dimensional pieces through out the gallery. This creates a new dimension to Haber’s story. Patrons can journey through a vast array of characters and be totally immersed by the art. He believes storytelling is one of the most important things we can pass on.

His enchantment with females as subject matter rivals that of Degas and Mucha, as can be seen throughout all of his work. Haber has worked for Walt Disney Feature Animation, Fox Animation and has been artist assistant to Takashi Murakami. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Well, I’m a bit early with this print release heads up, but one can never be too prepared. Here is a look at a print called Sniper by Matt Haber that is being released by The BLDG. This Pop Surrealist has been exhibiting across the country, with his most recent show being the group show “Beach Blanket Bingo” at Chelsea’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery.
